Steffen Kverneland
Drawings for "KANON"
9 December 2008 - 11 January 2009

Drawings from "KANON 1":

From the opening of Munch's exhibition in the Artists Association in Berlin in 1892, the so called "Scandal exhibition", who led to Munch's international breakthrough.

In connection with the exhibition Munch becoming "Munch" - Artistic strategies 1880-1892 the Munch Museum presents drawings by Steffen Kverneland. Kverneland interprets in cartoons Edvard Munchs's "scandal exhibition" in Berlin in 1892 and his international artistic breakthrough.

Steffen Kverneland, born 14.01.1963, is an illustrator, cartoonist and admirer of Edvard Munch. His humourous and burlesque design, combined with great knowledge about the  "master", makes it a pleasure to present his drawings in the Munch Museum.

The cartoons about Munch is a continous story in the album series KANON, which Kverneland creates together with Lars Fiske.

The public is welcome to participate in the exhibition opening and to meet with Kverneland on Tuesday 9 December at 13.00.
