Edvard Munch - Alpha and Omega
27 January 2009 - 13 April 2009

The exhibition Alpha and Omega is a unique cooperation between the Munch Museum and Oslo Nye Teater, Centralteatret (Oslo New Theatre, The Central theatre). The theatre presents the play of Sten Kaalø: Edvard Munch - Alpha and Omega. The play is centered around Edvard Munch's recovery at Dr. Jacobsons clinique in Copenhagen in 1908-09. The exhibition in the Munch Museum shows several works that are relevant to the play, both works Munch made during the stay at the hospital - the lithographical series he entitled Alpha and Omega - and works that in other ways are thematically related to the play - like Death in the Sickroom, The Kristiania Bohemians etc.

Costume drawings and photographs from the play will be shown in the Munch Museum, and an exhibition of Munch's photographs from the clinique will be presented at the Centralteatret (The Central theatre/Oslo New theatre), to underline the connection between the play and the exhibition even further.
