The library is open to scholars and students.
Opening hours: September 1st -May 31st: Tuesday to Friday 9 am-3pm. Mondays closed.
June 1st - August 31st - 9 am - 2 pm Tuesday to Friday. Monday closed.
NB The library is closed in July.
The library's collection comprises:
- Literature about Edvard Munch - books, articles, exhibition catalogues
- Edvard Munch's private book collection
- Literature on fine art approx. 1850-1950, approx. 22000 volumes
- Transcripts of Munch's collection of letters, diaries and notes
- Newspaper cuttings that cover Munch's life
The collection as well as the accumulated knowledge about the artist, is made available for research purposes by the Museum. The library continues to structure the comprehensive resource and research material it holds. Edvard Munch’s diaries and notes are being transcribed again into a more standardised form – the aim is to publish these in their entirety. A biographical database containing information about people connected to Edvard Munch is being developed. |
